SAMANTHA GRAY ...  From: Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, but I am a dual-citizen: Canadian & Australian! Work: As a recent graduate from SFU, I am currently taking time off from both school and work to reflect, travel, and plan the next phase of my journey! My last working experience was in healthcare research for older adults through both Fraser Health and SFU.

Q: What inspires you to to jump for joy?
A: I have recently reached a new crossroads in my life and I feel blessed with all the opportunity and possibility at my fingertips! I am excited to jump (for joy!) into the next phase of my life.

Q. Your experience doing the jumping photos?
A: I felt at home! Jumping is something I have been doing since I was a little girl and I got to do this shoot in one of my favourite places in the world, the trails of Pacific Spirit Park. The best part was that Eyoalha and I seemed to feed off of one another's enthusiasm as we explored and jumped our way through the trails!

Q: What inspires you in life?
A: Music. Whether live, recorded, or in my head, I cannot get through a single day without music – it fuels my spirit.

Q: Greatest passion?
A: Connecting with people lies at the heart of everything I do. Through school, dance, research, volunteerism, family, friends, music, community, and all else in between, channeling energy with another person brightens my soul and gives me hope that we can remedy whatever challenges might plague us.

I believe the ability to touch a life – to hold a hand, share a laugh, provide an ear, or simply be in the presence of another – is a powerful gift and I strive to do this everyday, even if by the simplest means.

Q: Driving force?
A: Everything happens for a reason, so enjoy the journey!

Q: Philosophy?
A: Max Ehrmann eloquently sums up my philosophy in life in the work entitled “Desiderata”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desiderata

Q: Anything in the world?
A: Improve the quality of later life! People are living longer and I feel that the last ten years of your life should be just as great as any other decade of your life.

I have already taken steps towards this life goal through both research and volunteering with older adults. I wish to continue along this path for a long time.

Q: What are you working on?
A: Please take a few moments to watch the videos provided at this link. I worked for almost a year contributing to this knowledge translation video project looking at fall & injury prevention in seniors living in long-term care. http://www.youtube.com/user/HipHealthandMobility

Q. Mini bio, interesting facts about you or something special you want to share.
A. A favourite quote of mine: “Get out of the bitter barn and play in the hay!”
