What is the importance of the Montessori Three-Year Cycle?
A fundamental feature of Montessori education is the "Three Year Cycle." Each developmental cycle provides the child with the consistency of the same classroom and community setting. Over a three-year period children have the opportunity to develop and learn at their own pace. The younger children benefit from observing the work of the older children, while the oldest children solidify their knowledge and positive sense of self by helping their younger classmates.
Mixed ages live and work together as in a family group. Those who are developing more slowly in a particular area have more time, while others maturing more rapidly in a certain area may continue to progress and not be held back simply because of chronological age. MSBG children have the opportunity to enjoy the experience of being cared for and guided by older friends, and in due course the further opportunity of taking the responsibility of many and varied leadership roles as they progress from being younger to more senior members of the class. It is therefore in the best interest of the child’s development and essential to the program to spend at least three years at the Early Childhood and each of the Elementary levels.

STEM
MSBG is participating in STEM in the Park this year on September 7 from 10am - 2pm at the Perry Field House. Come join us!
Art Instructor Needed
As you read in Friday Features last week, we are in search of a new art instructor as Miss Amanda took a full-time teaching job in Toledo.
The Montessori School of Bowling Green is a non-profit, private school and we are seeking an experienced part time art instructor - K-7th grades; approximately 8 hours/week.
Please send letter of intent, resume and three letters of reference to 515 Sand Ridge Rd., Bowling Green, Ohio.
Doors Open at 8:30 to the Classrooms
Please be aware that doors to the classrooms open at 8:30am. Children arriving prior to that time need to attend before care. Occasionally, we accommodate for busing situations but for safety reasons, we must have all children under the supervision of an adult at all times. Thank you!
Kroger Rewards
Kroger Rewards 1st Quarter Payment Has Arrived!
For those of you participating in the Kroger Rewards program, the 1 st quarter payment has arrived! Due to privacy concerns, Kroger no longer provides individual card detail to the school with the payment. However, each of you can log in to your Kroger account online and print out the benefit that was paid on your behalf. If you then turn in this statement to the school office, we will credit your tuition account for that amount. Be sure to have any of your friends and family that signed their cards up with Montessori as their charity to print out their statements as well. We will need all statements turned in to the office no later than September 15, 2013. After that time, any remaining benefit will be donated to the CAPE parent association and the school scholarship fund.
Here are the instructions to print out your form:
1) Go to www.kroger.com
2) Click on “Sign In” and enter your e-mail and password.
3) Click on My Account -> Account Summary
