Prioritize! Streamline! It's gonna be great!
Hello <<First Name>>,

Is your website suffering from lack of focus? When a new visitor shows up on your home page, are you giving them six different things to do (read our blog! see our featured items! follow us on Twitter! subscribe to the newsletter! hang out with us on Instagram! View our customer photo gallery!)?

It's been proven over and over that giving people too many choices causes them to take no action, and just wash their hands of the whole thing.

It's time to create some focus. When a person visits your website, you want to inspire them to do the thing that's the most important to you. Put this "call to action" somewhere prominent, and don't distract your visitor with a pile of other things to do in the same area.

For the Aeolidia redesign, I have taken some time to list out all the things my visitors could be asked to do, then prioritize them from most to least important. I plan to have one major call to action on each of the pages of our site.

What do you most want your visitor to do when they finish reading your blog post? Do you want them to share it? Do you want them to click through to your shop? Do you want them to subscribe to get posts in their email? Choose one thing and focus your efforts on that.

Think of it this way: if someone is following your blog, do you need to get her to follow you on Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest as well? Or would your efforts be better spent trying to interest her in purchasing an item from your shop rather than pulling her in so many non-productive directions?

Here is a simple call to action from me: if you have any small biz buddies who would benefit from our newsletter, please forward this email to a friend.

Friends! If this was forwarded to you, please sign yourself up here. I will be emailing you about growing your audience, focusing your website, why you should be glad when someone unsubscribes from your mailing list, and the simplest way to get what you want.

Wishing you laser-like focus,
-Arianne Foulks

P.S. I'm still waiting to hear about your best business moment! Please send it in by the end of the week so I can include you. Just a single paragraph will work just fine - I want these to be easy and fun to share! Learn more here.
