Market News for August 17

Come and spend some time with us in Withrow Park this Saturday. Our vendors will have a wide selection of fresh Ontario fruit, vegetables, meats, fish, and prepared foods. We will also have fun kid's crafts and some great entertainment too! Read on to find out what you will find at the market this week...

Cookstown Greens will be featuring their Grill Mixes - a wonderful 2-pound bag of vegetables that are ready for the BBQ (awesome and convenient too!). They will also have pints of their Juliette tomatoes and much more.

Fresh Veggies will bringing their flavour-packed garlic. Bob will also have beets, beans, carrots, herbs, kale, okra, potatoes, red onions, Swiss chard and lots of tomatoes.

Sweet Sammies will bringing a special treat this week for all of you PB&J sandwich lovers out there - peanut butter ice cream and a swirl of Manning Canning's raspberry jam on a vanilla cake.

Murray's Farm will have a variety of heritage vegetables, eggs, and Berkshire pork. Special this week from Murray will be Tamworth pork (a first this season!).


Feast of Fields' table will be overflowing with fruits from their orchard including Freestone peaches, blue plums, blue seedless grapes, Pristine apples, blackberries, early pears, tame blueberries and perhaps even some red raspberries. They will also have freshly picked wild blueberries.
 
Manning Canning will have their scrumptious Apple Pie in a Jar filling for all you pie lovers out there. Christine will also be bringing a very special item this week: Tilted Cherries (cherries aged for 8 weeks in a brandy syrup). Tilted Cherries will be in limited supply, so come early!
 
Eudora's Fine Foods is bringing a new zucchini chutney made from Ontario organic zucchini as well as a savoury zucchini relish (to top burgers sandwiches or cheese and crackers) in addition to their other Indian cooking sauces.
 
Fiddlehead Farm will have all of their regular greens as well as tomatoes, beans, and potatoes.

Potager du Kanada will be back with a variety of vegetables including okra & tomatoes, as well as local honey.
 
Haystrom Farm will be bringing lots of veggies, as well as sugar pears, damson & golden plums, Paula red & ginger gold apples.
 
Weber's Natural Meats are at the market for the next 2 weeks (but will be skipping Aug 31) & are bringing Silkie meat & eggs, as well as pheasants. You'll also find regular chicken & their ever-popular summer sausage (incl. their nitrate-free option).
 
Also on hand will be Brian Hamlin (honey), Coffeecology (freshly-brewed coffees), Field Sparrow Farms (meats), Healthy Choice Farm (produce), Hooked Inc. (fresh & smoked fish, fish tacos), Kind Organics (sprouts, herbs), Monforte Dairy (cheese), St. John's Bakery (breads, cookies), and Tiffinday (vegan Indian food).
 

At Market Next Week: Savonnez-Moi (handmade soaps), Pablo the Dog (natural dog food).
 

Back In a Few Weeks: Danbrie Farms (maple syrup) will return on August 31.
