Blog Entry - Reflections from the Global Leadership Summit

I realize this might not be as life-thrilling to you, but just in case you wanted to know: 100 days from now, Jason and I will say, "I DO!" (11/22/13)

“So you like lots of big changes all at once?”

This was the rhetorical question from a colleague after I shared that I was stepping into a new job role, planning a wedding (not to mention a life with my future husband!), and preparing to move to a new town.

It’s times like these when I’m thankful for the overseas experiences God has given me.

While nothing can compare to the transition to marriage - I feel like moving to another continent, learning a foreign language and dealing with people who are sinners just like me, has been providential preparation for this next phase of my life!

As I follow God's leading, I am reminded:
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
~ Philippians 4:6-7

What could be better than mentoring students in missions!?

Today I will start the pre-trip orientation journey with Angie.  I will guide her through preparing for her upcoming overseas trip with the Discovery program.

I'm looking forward to this hands-on learning experience as I move into my new role.

I am also working with colleagues in South Asia to write up proposals for short-term trips I may lead there next year!

This is an exciting time to be alive and a part of God's work around the world!

Well...I can think of one thing :-)

Getting married!!!

Yes.  I'm well into the throes of wedding planning!  It is the biggest blessing ever to have my sister, my mother, and the rest of my family and friends help with the planning and rejoice with me in this season of life as I prepare to make the 2nd most important decision of my life.

God has also provided Jason and me with excellent pre-marriage counseling from my Uncle Chuck Betters.

As we work through lots of homework, we are being stretched!

But through it all, we are learning about God's beautiful design for marriage and we are growing more unified each day.
