Calm-A-Lid Now Available
The initial response and feedback for the Calm-A-Lid has been great. It has helped many breeders reduce the stress of shearing and other periodic herd maintenance. Here at our own farm, we have an alpaca nicknamed "Screaming Mimi" due to her behavior once on the shearing mat. For about 10 minutes every year, she yelps, fights, and pees all over the place. This year we put the Calm-A-Lid to the test by using it on Mimi, and we're happy to report she was much calmer than previous years throughout the whole process. It was a nice change of pace and we look forward to using in the years to come.
"We have used the Calm-a-lid on our alpacas here at UMass for over year. I find it works very well for fractious animals to calm them down without drugs. I have used it successfully for reproductive exams, foot trimming, and shearing. I recommend it to anyone for their alpacas and llamas."
