Coming Up: Shamar Rinpoche’s Annual USA Teaching & Bodhi Path Organizational Meeting

Bodhi Path Natural Bridge
September 13-16, 2013

Empty of essence, luminous, creative—the nature of mind is impossible to describe with precision and yet the mind is the basis of every experience. Mahamudra guides the practitioner to realize the fundamental nature of mind and uses this recognition as the basis for benefiting others. The natural result is the blossoming of loving-kindness and compassion, which finds its expression in the profound yet accessible practice of Chenrezig. Take this wonderful opportunity to join Shamar Rinpoche in an intimate setting as he illuminates the realization of Mahamudra. Friday and Saturday all day, Sunday 10-12.

There will be a celebration Sunday evening at 6 pm with food and participatory entertainment. Family and friends are invited. Monday is the annual organizational meeting for Bodhi Path centers, from 10 am- 3 pm. We hope many of you will plan to attend and participate in the discussion.

Register online now.

The gift of Manis

Bodhi Path centers worldwide have made the commitment to collectively accumulate one hundred million recitations of the profound mantra, Om Mani Padme Hung, from the practice of Chenrezig (Avalokiteśvara), the Bodhisattva of compassion. We offer this commitment in gratitude and complete support for H.H. the 17th Karmapa Thaye Dorje's worldwide activity.

Currently our worldwide community of centers has accomplished approximately 17 million manis, and the number continues to grow.

To add your voice to this collective gift, please do the Chenrezig practice, count your mantra recitations and post them on the Facebook page that has been established for this purpose:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/bodhipathmanis/

If you’re not on Facebook, you can post your Manis via your local center or a friend. The Facebook group has become a tremendously inspiring forum. All individuals are warmly invited to join us in accomplishing this commitment. Here is a map of the participants who have contributed to this  worldwide. Very cool!

All centers and individuals are encouraged to participate in this commitment however they can. This not only helps our own and everyone else’s practice, it also enables us to realize that as fellow travelers on the path to awakening, we can support each other by being an active part of the worldwide Bodhi Path community. This is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of this joyful collective gift.

A Chenrezig practice book, in both Tibetan and English, can be ordered at: http://www.bodhipath.org/books. Instructions on how to properly conduct this practice are available at Bodhi Path centers.

Trinlay Rinpoche's North America Tour Continues

October & November 2013

Karma Trinlay Rinpoche continues his "Spirit of Awakening" teaching tour of Bodhi Path centers in North America during the fall of 2013. During this tour, Rinpoche is providing a rare presentation of Shantideva's Way of the Bodhisattva in its entirety. The first part of the tour, conducted last spring, covered foundational topics as well as the first three chapters of the text. The next stage covers chapters 4-8 and takes place in Calgary, Natural Bridge, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City.

Details can be found at: http://www.bodhipath.org/trinlay2013/
Please check the website from time to time for possible schedule adjustments.

Given how rare it is to receive such comprehensive teachings, Bodhi Path centers have been capturing the teachings on video so that students everywhere can experience the complete program. Videos are made available on a donation basis, and your offerings help ensure that this project continues. Students may register and view the videos, as well as make donations, via the Bodhi Path website.

Book Gifts for Dhagpo Institute

Bodhi Path Centers Worldwide are joyfully joining together to present gifts of books and texts for the new library at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling in France. Please consider donating towards these gifts, which benefit us all as a profound resource for the entire Bodhi Path community. To make a donation, please visit the Bodhi Path web site giving page, and earmark your donation towards this gift of the written Dharma at http://www.bodhipath.org/giving/

Specific gifts being purchased are: The Fourth Sharmapa Collection, and The Black Hat Eccentric; Artistic Visions of the 10th Karmapa. The North American Bodhi Paths have offered the new Chogyam Trungpa compilation released in 2013 titled The Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma and in addition to that are committed to participating in the global gift as well. Donating through your local center, and simply noting that you would like to support the library gift, is another option for giving. Thank You!!!

Editor's Corner

Dear Bodhi Path Friends,

So many wonderful events and teachings ahead!

If you have never been to one of Shamar Rinpoche's events in Natural Bridge, you may want to put it on your wish list. The highlight of the course is being with Rinpoche in a uniquely relaxed and beautiful setting, receiving his direct teaching and his blessing. Added to that is socializing with teachers and friends from the global BP community, delicious meals, and Sunday night's celebration & musical revue. It's a great party as well as an offering back to Rinpoche, and an opportunity to let your talent shine! Individuals and groups amaze and entertain with songs both familiar and original, accompanied by our own Bodhi Path Band. Monday is the organizational meeting, which is open to all Bodhi Path participants. Center coordinators especially should plan to stay in order to participate. The meeting presents an opportunity for everyone to witness and contribute to the functioning of our Bodhi Path centers, and to be active in bridging our growth in the future with our experience of the past.

If you plan to join us in Virginia, leave room in your suitcase to bring home books, printed materials, t-shirts, and DVD's, many of which are only available at the event.

Staying on for Tsony's retreat is the absolute perfect way to absorb Rinpoche's teaching. Tsony creates an intentional environment  which encourages deepening our practice, really dropping in. And the space is, of course, imbued with blessing.

For those who have been following Trinlay Rinpoche's videos and tour, we are happy that plans are well under way for the fall teaching schedule. Trinlay Rinpoche is dedicating the whole month of October to completing the second section, which we so appreciate. Many of the stops on the tour will be adding venues for additional talks, and we are excited to announce that in NYC, the Rubin museum is hosting a talk on November 1st. The Rubin event last fall with Shamar Rinpoche was so special, we are confident that this event with Trinlay Rinpoche will be wonderful as well.

Did you see that as of this week the Mani page has over 17,000,000 mani's? Wow! This commitment has brought rise to so much inspiration and dedication. It's very touching to see the worldwide community pulling together in this aspiration: the liberation of all beings. Om Mani Padme Hung!

We heard very positive news from our friends who attended the Library and Institute inauguration event in France. We want to to reiterate what an amazing resource this is, and invite you all to access what is available there. Please give to the gift fund, if you can, please travel to the teachings, if you can, please participate in the mani accumulation, if you can.

Warmest wishes,
Sharon Gamsby
