Howling For Wolves Launches 50,000 MN Signature Petition
View this email in your browser

Dear wolf advocate,

Today we took our fight to suspend the 2013 wolf hunt to the MN State Capitol to launch the 50,000 signature petition drive. We are joined in this effort by the Center for Biological Diversity, HSUS, MN Humane Society, MN Voter’s for Animal Protection and the Sierra Club’s North Star Chapter. Thank you to the nearly 50 supporters who joined us at the Capitol and the countless others who support our efforts.

Advocates with many different backgrounds, including hunters, spoke about the importance of the wolf in our state and ecosystems. Together, these advocates reinforced the risks of moving forward with a hunt when there’s still so much uncertainty surrounding the exact wolf population.

Several members of the media were in attendance and we will share those stories with you soon. We’re confident that our work today will pave the way to urge Governor Dayton and the DNR to suspend the 2013 wolf hunt.

Now is the time to dig deep and get to work. We need all of us to help collect 50,000 Minnesota signatures, which we will deliver to Governor Dayton in the coming weeks. The petition drive will show Governor Dayton and lawmakers the deep, broad support on this issue.

Please sign the petition online at http://www.howlingforwolves.org/letter and share it with friends and family. If you signed before but did not put your address into the data then please sign it again. Anything you can do to help us reach our goal of 50,000 Minnesotan signatures will bring us closer to suspending the hunt.

We know that the current wolf hunting and trapping season does not support the long-term survival of the wolf in Minnesota. We need to protect Minnesota’s wolves for future generations. It is urgent that we act now because the DNR already is accepting license applications for the planned hunt.

We will be at the Renaissance Fair and at the Pet Center at the Minnesota State Fair collecting signatures. Be sure to stop by to visit and encourage your friends and family to do the same.

Stay tuned and keep howling.
