Tips on Sketching Garments
Business Tip Attend trade shows and classes to expand your knowledge in areas where you are weak. Surround yourself with colleagues and helpers who are skilled in the areas where you do not shine as bright.
Crochet Tip Suspend your disbelief... briefly.  When following a new pattern, follow it to the letter. Trust the pattern. (Some designers are brilliant and do things in new ways) THEN if it doesn't work out, use your common sense to get you back on track. More on this another time.
Design Tip Have as much about your design finished as possible BEFORE you submit. Know how the project will be edged, know how the decreases will work. Write as much of the pattern as possible. Keep a swatch at home or at least a fantastic detail photo for reference when you are told, "YES".
