Hello Derby Fans!
The 2013 season has turned a corner and is headed straight for the hard-fought finale: the Champ Bout in September! But first, Atlanta's very own home teams have to earn their spots in that coveted bout by winning in this month's playoffs. Read on for the lowdown on these ATL showdowns, plus a little something about how YOU can become an Atlanta Rollergirl!
Denim Demons vs. Apocalypstix
Our first bout of the double header on August 17th is a replay of July’s battle between the Denim Demons and the Apocalypstix. The Apocalysptix fell short last time, but have rallied and are ready to show the Demons the impenetrable walls they’re known for. The Demons are 2012 League Champions and are looking to hold onto the title- they’ve always been known for their skilled jammers like ChokeCherry and Afro Dykee, and now their teamwork is controlling the game. The Stix are not to be underestimated, though. Rudy Huxtabrawl and Slamborghini are ready to create a wall that even the sneakiest jammer won’t want to face. Will the Demons hold onto their reign, or will the Stix end it all?

Toxic Shocks vs. Sake Tuyas
In our second bout of the double header, the undefeated Toxic Shocks take on the Sake Tuyas. The Sakes have had a tough year- they recently lost jammer Dee Lorean and knockout blocker Ice Sickle, but are bringing it all to the track to prove that teamwork is the most valuable play in roller derby. With jammers like Hollicidal and the Merchant of Menace, they’ll take on any team, any time. The Toxic Shocks are gunning for another championship title and are well on their way. Their walls are solid, their jammers are agile, and they work as a single unit. Can the Sakes bring out their inner ninjas, or will the Shocks poison their way to the top?
