Spotlight on Partnerships: A & E Incorporated

Gateway  has benefited from both A & E’s financial contributions and industry insight. This partnership has resulted in modern facilities and newer classrooms for Gateway students. “People do not understand how valuable training is, but it keeps us competitive, allows us to retain a workforce and develop new products,” says Max Knoell, A & E’s VP of Marketing and Product Management.

“Technical jobs provide a good wage and better the lives of the employees and the communities in which they live. The challenge we face is finding skilled labor to fill these jobs,” said Max. “Skilled labor is in such demand and is so valuable. That is why we support Gateway -- because what they do benefits us.” Click here to read the complete article.

Certified Nursing Assistant ABE/ELL Program

The third cohort of CNAs recently completed the Certified Nursing Assistant Adult Basic Skills and English Language Learner program. The summer session classes were offered at Gateway’s Burlington location, making it easier for students from Lake Geneva, Elkhorn and areas west of the I-94 corridor to participate.  The students completed their clinical at the Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove.   One student shared how she enjoyed the experience and stated that she “loves taking care of people and that it brings out her confidence”.

“This is where it all starts, the skills you learn in CNA training are the foundation for any of the health care careers and programs offered at Gateway Technical College.” -Diane Skewes, Gateway's Associate Dean of Nursing
