Kum Kum Hindu Temple Parade

The crowds were out to celebrate the inauguration of a new Swaminarayan Temple, and I was pleased to join the parade from Roe Green Park to Parr Road.

The crowds were treated to a great display of floats, music, drums and even an Indian bagpipe band in full kilts!
Dragons' Den Harrow

I become a 'Dragon' for a day as part of a National Citizens Service scheme run by The Challenge Network. Teams of young people gathered in the Council Chamber of Harrow Council to pitch their designs for a sponsored activity for a local charity, campaign or community issue. I then provided feedback on their ideas and winning teams won up to £100 to put their pitch into action.
Hare Krishna Temple Janmashtami

Janmashtami is held to celebrate the birthday of Sri Lord Krishna and I was pleased to join revellers at Bhaktivedanta Manor for singing, theatrical performances, dancing, shows and to sample a variety of excellent food. Thousands of people gathered, young and old, for the very colourful celebrations which lasted for two entire days.

Canons Park Fun Day

I joined local residents and families in Canons Park for the annual Fun Day run by the Friends of Canons Park.

The event, which is now in its tenth year, had a great number of activities for all the family, including a dog obedience display, bouncy castles, a book stall, face painting and free art activities for children.

Website of the Week - The Disability Foundation
I recently paid a visit to Sainsbury's in Stanmore to celebrate their choice of The Disability Foundation (TDF) as the Sainsbury's Charity of the Year. The charity, which is based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), offers complementary therapies to any disabled person or person with a chronic health condition as well as those involved in their care, including carers, close family members and NHS support staff.
