Holiness, Godliness, Usefulness

Lesson 37: God's Design for Grace, Part 3

If your conscience starts to feel guilty, your flesh says you’re being too strict and legalistic. You say to yourself “Now we’re under grace, not the law. God will forgive you.”

The flesh also fills our mind with thoughts of the world, to flood out any thought of God. The flesh knows that our mind can’t focus on both God and earthly things.

Col.3:2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

How can we keep the kindness of God, and the evil of sin, in our mind at the same time?
We need to keep our eyes on the cross of Christ.

Nothing shows God’s love more clearly. Nothing displays more graphically the depth of our sin, the punishment that we deserved.

The cross shows how far God was willing to go to deliver us from sin: He gave His only begotten Son. It was my sin that held Him on the cross. His wounds have paid my ransom.

 About This Series

The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21

- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work
