• Last July Georgios participated in the July 2013 IEEE-EMBS conference that took place in Osaka, Japan where he delivered a talk in a special session organized by Professor Norbert Graf and presented a regular paper on the Oncosimulator. Additionally, he had a strategic interaction with Professor Hiroaki Kitano, Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, Okinawa, Japan regarding the possible “fusion” of Virtual Physiological Human (VPH) multiscale cancer modelling and systems biology in the clinical context.
• Georgios participated as an invitee in the strategic workshop entitled “The role of multiscale modelling in Systems Medicine”. The event organized by the European Commission, Health Directorate, DG Research and Innovation fundedCoordinating Action Systems Medicine – Implementation of Systems Medicine across Europe ( CASYM-EUROPE) took place in Heidelberg, Germany on 11 June 2013. A list of recommended actions was one of the outcomes of the workshop.
• Next October Georgios will be an invited keynote speaker at the workshop entitled “Computational Methods in Cancer” to take place at the INSIGNEO Institute for In Silico Medicine at the University of Sheffield, UK, where he will talk about “In Silico Oncology: from cancer multiscale modelling to the hypermodel based Oncosimulator”.
