Our New Sensory Room!

A huge thank you to everyone who has so generously supported us over the years and welcome to all our new supporters without which our work would not be possible!

Last week Speech and Language Therapy students from Leeds Metropolitan University, under the guidance of Sian Critchett and Olivia Gould, visited our project to promote intensive communication in the surroundings of a sensory room environment with Sylvia Gurr, one of our Trustees.

During this time they helped us kit out a dedicated sensory room in one of the new hospital buildings. Decorating it with lots of lights, different colours, textures and calming music to stimulate the senses, promote relaxation, exploration and interaction with others.

A big thank you to Sian, Olivia, Gemma, Grace, Beth, Salma, Anjali, Orlaith and Robyn!

A moment of peace and calm from daily life in the hospital...
A warm cuddly tiger to hug and be comforted by..
The mirror ball and lights bought for the sensory room
The speech and language therapy students with the first of our beneficiaries trying out the sensory room
A butterfly glittering from the colourful lights in the room :-)
