Travel security warning. We get many theft stories from clients travelling around the world. This is one of the latest from a client who recently returned from Europe with their partner. One of them had their wallet stolen from the front pocket of their shorts while queuing for Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. They say, “The couple who stole from my partner were a very smart looking couple who looked like Spanish tourists, and unseen by us squirted cold water into my partners ear, on the opposite side to the pocket the wallet was in. It acted as a "distraction" as he put both his hands up to his ear and neck as water was running down his collar. He didn't feel a thing, as they stole his wallet, and I saw them immediately cross the road and head down the metro. It happens to so many people in Spain!”
There are many stories similar to this and often the perpetrators are well dressed and articulate when spoken to. Make sure your passports, credit cards and cash are secure and concealed and that you have a good travel insurance.
