The UPS delivery is always an exciting moment in the shop, and we've been receiving some wonderfully large boxes full of brand new yarns that we can't wait to show you.  There are new colors, new weights, and new samples that will knock your socks off.

This month, The Fibre Company will be taking center stage with TWO trunk shows that will be featuring samples knit up with their Tundra and Canopy Worsted yarns.  And inspiration can be found outside the shop  this month as KNITWEAR will be taking over the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins on Sunday September 22nd.

We look forward to visiting with you soon and seeing what this cooler weather has you eager to cast on for!

Jump Start your Holiday Knitting

Time flies, and summer days are more ephemeral than most.  With just 3 months left before the holiday season is upon us again; we thought a head start might make the next several months of gift knitting more leisurely and way more fun.  We have cooked up several projects for the next three months that will give you a wonderful collection of fun knits and beautiful gifts.

This month's project is a modified version of Lion Brand's Herringbone Pillow.  This stunning home accessory can be approached by any experience level.  Our kit includes more yarn than you'll need and a copy of the pattern with our addendum for $25.  If you would like to join our class on September 10th, Julie C can walk you through the basics of pattern "greek" and help you make sense of it all.  The kit materials are included in the price of the class and details can be found on our website.  Give us a call at the shop to sign up! 970-407-1461.

Be sure to check our blog in upcoming months for details about each of our holiday kits as we introduce them at the beginning of each month.

Shi Bui arrives at MSK

Julie has found some beautiful new yarn for you to fall in love with.  We have four brand new yarns that we'd love for you to come and see.

Featured above is Silk Cloud: Each 25 gram skein contains 330 yards of lace weight 60% mohair and 40% silk.

Staccato: Each 50 gram skein contains 191 yards of fingering weight 70% superwash Merino and 30% silk.  This yarn will be perfect for washable accessories that will add a pop of color to your wardrobe.

Heichi: Each 50 grams skein contains 105 yards of worsted weight 100% silk.  This yarn will turn any project into something that looks as though it was designed by Eileen Fisher and cost a mint.

Last but not least would be the Linen: These 50 grams skeins contain 246 yards of fingering weight 100% linen that has been spun into delicious softness. This is the first linen yarn that doesn't make my hands hurt in anticipation. I think it will be a dream to work with.

We are all eager to get working with these yarns and will have samples in the shop to share with you in no time.  Check out our blog for more photos and information on our first project off the needles.

The Fibre Company Trunk Shows

We have two beautiful trunk shows to share with you this month.  The Fibre Company is sending us a Trunk Show of accessories all knit up in Tundra.  This bulky weight blend of 60% Alpaca,30% Merino, and 10% Silk creates a very soft fabric that would be just what you would want to snuggle into when the weather turns cold.  These beautiful samples will be in the shop for the first two weeks of the month.

For the second half of September we will be featuring a home grown Trunk Show.  Our local sample knitters have been working hard on an amazing collection of sweaters and accessories all knit up with the Fibre Company's Canopy Worsted yarn.  This stunning blend of 50% baby alpaca, 30% merino, and 20% bamboo was met with a chorus of delight.  Every one of our knitters raved about this delicious yarn. It is a dream to work with and creates finished projects that you are going to be thrilled with.  Our selection of projects come from the pages of Botanical Knits: Twelve Designs Inspired by Trees and Foliage by Alana Dakos.  We couldn't imagine a more fitting way to kick off Autumn.
