Heath Care for Oregonians

SALEM CITY CLUB'S

5-PART SERIES

ON HEALTH CARE REFORM IN

THE SALEM COMMUNITY

Series Sponsor:
Opening SCC’s fall season on Friday, September 13 with the first of five special programs on health care reform is Dr. Bruce Goldberg, director of the Oregon Health Authority. Dr. Goldberg is leading Oregon’s effort to transform its health delivery system so it brings better health at a more affordable cost. He hopes to do this by improving the organization, delivery and financing of health care services.
“Oregon is at the forefront of changing the rules so that patients are at the center of all we do and everyone in the system is working towards better health and better costs,” says Dr. Goldberg.
Dr. Goldberg will discuss “Oregon’s Independent Path to Health Reform and What It Means to You” as he explains health reforms, progress to date and what the future holds for health care in our state. He also will explain CoverOregon, the state’s new health insurance exchange that is unfamiliar to many Oregonians. CoverOregon’s first open enrollment date for people to sign up for insurance coverage begins in October.
Goldberg’s medical training includes graduating from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and family medicine training at Duke University. He is former director of the Office of Oregon Health Policy and Research, and served six years with the US Public Health Service in Zuni, New Mexico and 12 years as a full-time faculty member at Oregon Health and Science University.
Most recently, Dr. Goldberg served at the Director of the Oregon Department of Human Services before being appointed to his current position as OHA director.
Please join us as we welcome Dr. Bruce Goldberg on Friday, September 13, 2013.  As is our tradition we meet at the Willamette Heritage Center at the Mill.  For lunch reservations email rsvp@salemcityclub.com before noon Wednesday, September 11, 2013.  Parking is free.  Doors open at 11:30 AM.  For more information on this program please go to www.salemcityclub.com.

Salem City Club is grateful to Salem Health for their generous sponsorship of this series.
