AccessAbility in Action 2013 Award is Now Open for Nominations
Deadline: September 27, 2013
 
Summary: AccessAbility Fest committee is now taking applications for the 3rd annual AccessAbility in Action award.  All nominations must be in before the deadline of 5 pm September 27, 2013. This award is presented to one organization, family or individual who makes it a focus to help people with disabilities in San Antonio and the surrounding area in work, life and play.  
 
AccessAbility Fest 2013 announces the AccessAbility in Action Award is now open and taking online award nominations. Application deadline is Sept. 27, 2013 at 5pm. “We applaud everyone who makes a difference in the lives of people with different abilities. We see so many people making life-changing contributions by going out of their way. These contributions are made in their businesses, personal missions, time and talents, which positively impact the lives of others,” says Melanie Cawthon, co-founder and event logistics for AccessAbility Fest.
 
The AccessAbility in Action award celebrates the best in generous acts towards others in San Antonio. The award is presented during a special ceremony at AccessAbility Fest.  “So often, these efforts go unrecognized. The Accessibility in Action Awards celebrates the givers among us. We encourage everyone to submit a deserving nomination this year,” says Cawthon.
 
Individual:  An individual who contributes a significant amount of time, talent or resources to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities at work, in life and at play.

Family: Two or more individuals, in the same family unit, who contribute a significant amount of time, talent or resources to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities at work, in life and at play.

Organization/Business: Must meet one or more of the criteria listed: 1) Creates special efforts to find and recruit qualified people with disabilities for available jobs.  -Or- works with service providers, job coaches, and educational programs to make sure that teachers and trainers know what skills are necessary for available jobs. 2) Give 25% or more of their philanthropic activities for support services and programs for individuals with disabilities.  3) Provide exceptional quality of service –or- an inclusive environment to meet the needs of consumers with disabilities.  4) Uses innovative solutions to promote inclusion for individuals with disabilities at work, in life and at play.
