"When students know there is a place they can turn to when school work gets difficult, they feel hopeful instead of defeated. For so many students, that place is Intellect Learning Center."

Going the Extra Mile...

Now that school has started, we've kicked off our "School Support Programs" once again. The reasons for this program's popularity are obvious: students get individualized attention and work at their own pace with a qualified instructor on any subject they are struggling with in school. Students gain a deeper understanding of material, better grades, and improved confidence. The main reason this program is so successful is because we have spent a substantial amount of time analyzing any barriers that would hinder program effectiveness. From losing assignment books to forgetting study guides at home, our creative students have constantly forced us to re-evaluate how we help them with school work. Below is a brief description of our School Support Program and how it will help your child:

1. We have qualified tutors in all major subjects, including: Math, Reading, Writing, Spanish, History/Social Studies, Science

2. We meet with your child's teachers in school.  With your permission, we will contact teachers to gain valuable feedback about your child's progress in the classroom. This component enables us to better help your child by learning more about your child's efforts and specific teacher expectations.

3. We incorporate study skills into every lesson. Our goal is to make sure students learn skills they can utilize while in the classroom and while studying independently at home. We will teach your child how to take effective notes, create useful study guides, and read with purpose. We do not complete every homework problem with students; instead we guide them and provide them with the skills they need to become independent learners.

4. We help students find an organization system that works for them. Many students struggle with organization. Keeping an organized book bag, locker, desk, and room doesn't come naturally for all students and can be a lot to keep up with! Our students get the support they need to develop positive habits.
