In a nutshell:

Heecon

Heecon and CMW have enjoyed a long and valued relationship. It's a great pleasure for all at CMW to wish them a very happy anniversary year.

Metazet

Once in a while, a simple innovation can make a big difference to a routine greenhouse operation. We think that the new M-LS trolley is one of those great ideas.

Heecon celebrate 25 years

It takes remarkable vision to engineer a solution to a problem that no-one has tackled previously but that's how Heecon, who celebrate 25 years in business this year, came into being. Until Kees Heestermans decided to apply his engineering skills to horticulture in 1988, crop clearance was a time consuming and labour intensive business. But Kees saw a clear opportunity to mechanise the arduous manual work involved and set about building the first ever Heecon crop clearance system for tomatoes, which was an immediate hit with Dutch and Belgian growers. CMW Horticulture sold the first Heecon machines in the UK in the 90's, and still enjoy a close relationship with the Belgian company 20 years later.

Innovators never stand still, so Heecon have been developing continuously since 1988, and the current machines bear little outward resemblance to the original. Heecon now offer crop clearance equipment for other crops, including cucumbers, peppers, strawberries and raspberries.

15% labour saving with new picking trolley

Until now, picking speciality products like truss tomatoes onto a conventional trolley has been somewhat cumbersome, with finished boxes often getting in the way. Now CMW supplier Metazet has introduced a clever new trolley which is claimed will reduce picking labour by 15%. The operator is always able to work from behind the trolley and pick the product into a box at the correct working height.

At a predetermined weight, the completed box automatically drops down and out of the way onto a stack of filled boxes. When the stack is complete, it can be pushed forward on the roller track, leaving space for another stack. Empty boxes are taken from another stack above and several configurations are available to accommodate different box sizes, with a capacity of up to 60 boxes.
