Health Data Consortium's: Health Data All Stars

Health Data All Stars is a directory of 50 prominent domestic resources for health data at the federal, state and local levels housed on the Health Data Consortium’s website. To compile the directory, we spoke with leading health researchers, government officials, entrepreneurs, advocates and others to identify the health data resources that matter most.  The public, including NAHDO members, are asked to review the list, refine it, and suggest new resources. – This catalog of some of the top health data resources that are available nationally was funded by the California HealthCare Foundation.

Recent Projects

AHRQ and NAHDO Data Standards Project

NAHDO is pleased to announce a new scope of work through a subcontract with Truven Health Analytics under the Agency for Healthcare Cost and Quality’s (AHRQ’s) Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP).  The NAHDO team will represent the Public Health Data Consortium (PHDSC), states, and state issues on the National Uniform Billing Committee (NUBC) and National Uniform Claims Committee (NUCC).  NAHDO’s Data Measurement Scientist Consultant, Barbara Rudolph, Ph.D. will be the lead representative to the content committees, with NAHDO’s National Standards Consultant, Robert Davis, as the alternate representative.  The team will need input from the PHDSC Data Standards Committee, all health data organizations, and HCUP Partners to identify priorities for the standards activities.  Thus, we will be reaching out to Partners for input on State data standards-related issues or issues related to public health and research data use purposes, and providing summaries from the NUBC and NUCC meetings.

There are a number of other projects we have been busy with here at NAHDO:

  • Recently NAHDO produced a report, “Recommendations for a Statewide Health Facility Data Reporting System in Alaska,” for the Alaska State Hospital and Nursing Home Association (ASHNHA).
  • A comprehensive health data source catalog and database is in the works for the California Health Care Foundation.
  • An APCD guidance document for the release of All-Payer Claims Data Base information was developed based on the proceedings from the 2012 APCD State Workshop in New Orleans, LA.. More information concerning the guidance document and our findings to come at the NAHDO annual meeting and APCD workshop.
