From fighting cancer to open heart surgery, teenager Benjamin Irish has been through more medical procedures than most experience in a lifetime. First diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoma, he underwent two years of intense therapy before he could then have surgery for an aberrant artery in his heart discovered by chance during the course of his treatment.

All the while, Benjamin had the solid support of his family, friends and team of doctors, led by Dr. Don Eslin at MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando. Benjamin explains how his experiences as a child have shaped the course of the rest of his life. Click here to watch his incredible story.

SCHEDULE YOUR SCREENING

For the past 25 years, October has been designated as Breast Cancer Awareness. A collaboration by numerous national public service organizations, BCAM works to raise awareness about the importance of screenings to detect breast cancer early.

So, ladies, don't forget to schedule your annual screening with your doctor, or here is a list of organizations that give low-cost screenings.
