Campus Police: "You Can't Hand Out the Constitution"

ICYMI: A YAL activist at Modesto Junior College was barred from handing out pocket Constitutions on Constitution Day, Sept. 17th (a federal observance) by campus police. After explaining to the officer that his right to free speech is protected by the First Amendment, he was referred to a campus administrator, who sided with the police officer.

This past week, 150 YAL chapters nationwide held demonstrations on their campuses as part of "Constitution Week." Many of these chapters built "Free Speech Walls" to address free speech issues on their own campuses.
