Lesson 55: Flesh Has a Powerful Vision
Vision is a powerful motivation. Leadership seminars train people to imagine the future. By painting vivid mental pictures, the goal can be reached, but only if you follow their plan.
Imagination is the fuel for the vision. If it looks good enough, we will hunger for it. Because our affections crave the vision, we will sacrifice anything to have it. Even Christ was motivated to endure the worst suffering, by imagining His joy.
Heb.12:2-3 Jesus the founder & perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross…Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself…
The flesh has a vision: to be free from God’s law, to do whatever it wants. When your imagination is not able to turn off the vision of the flesh, you’re hooked.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
