What's for Lunch?
From time to time, toddler parents become stuck when answering this question. Toddlers are notorious for being picky eaters, and some may go through phases of not wanting to eat at all. While providing proper nutrition is the first priority, there are other tips for choosing what to pack for a toddler. Young children like a variety of color and shapes - fresh fruit and vegetables cut in different methods are often a toddler favorite. Having a child help choose what to pack will often create excitement for lunch the next day - actually helping pack the items is even more fun! While challenges may still exist, it is most important to model a positive attitude towards mealtime with toddlers - this is how they develop the healthy habits they need as they grow.

Fall Coloring

First Steps toddler Vylah is coloring fall cut-outs to hang in the room. While free coloring on blank paper gives young children a chance for creative exploration, coloring pre-cut shapes and designs encourages control of hand movement. Using markers gives toddlers a large writing utensil to grasp and practice with, and strengthens their fine-motor skills.

Stamping

The Stepping Stones toddlers learned about stamping with art teacher Heather. Stamping allows a specific design or shape to be repeated over and over on paper. Brooke is taking her stamp, putting it on the ink pad, and stamping onto the paper. Design stamps can be purchased, or can be created out of a variety of things like sponges or even food!
