ArtSmart News: Collect with Confidence
TOP TRENDS, TIPS, PICKS, AND UP-TO-THE-MINUTE ART BUZZ
What's ahead and noteworthy in the art world
As we enter the new fall season, the art market continues to barrel along with lots of activity and stratospheric prices. A Jeff Koons sculpture, coming up for auction in November in New York. has an estimate of 35-50 million dollars!
We continue to advise clients seeking good value to look at 19th and 20th century works on paper, 19th and 20th century American paintings as well as American realist paintings from the 1930's and 40's. And there are still good buys to be found in emerging artists from the Americas and Europe.
Following the Miami Basel Art Fair in early December, which we plan to attend, we will post images of the outstanding emerging Latin American artists that exhibited there.
As always, my recommendation is to look for works that are undervalued but have been well-regarded over time or, alternatively, to pursue up-and-coming, undiscovered artists that show great promise and are being recognized for their talents. The best collection strategy for our clients remains to stay well-informed and self-educated, and visit the best quality exhibitions.
Watch for our January newsletter which will explore emerging artists that you should know!
Please feel free to contact us with any questions about sound acquisition strategies and where we think the market is today.
And remember
- Enjoy the hunt. Buy what you love!
Very best regards,
