Volume 12, Number 7 - September 2013

Hello,

Welcome back from summer! I hope you all had a nice break and that you are feeling fully energized and ready to complete your 2013 goals.

Though September can feel like the beginning of a new year, it’s actually the end of the third quarter, and the clock is ticking. That means now is a good time to renew ideas, reinvigorate projects, or focus on one specific improvement you would like to make before you reach the December finish line.

What change are you willing to focus on now that the leaves are about to start falling?

Wishing you a happy self-improvement season.

Business Woman Magazine’s Breakfast

Last year, Vincent Belej launched an exclusive magazine about women in top management and politics, called Business Woman. The magazine contains interesting articles, captivating interviews and news from the realms of business, law and politics in the Czech Republic and abroad.

In the fall of 2012, I had the good fortune to be featured in the October issue of Business Woman. In my interview, I covered the topics of work-life balance, cultural communication, gender, the relationships between women and men in the workplace, and more.

You can read the whole interview here.

And you can browse the rest of the magazine here.

The Power Lunch Series Takes a Sabbatical

As many of you know, I have hosted a Power Lunch series on a monthly basis since 2003. This program has attracted a diverse group of participants representing a range of professions, and I have had the good fortune to learn, share ideas and exchange experiences, while exploring various management and business-related issues with smart and insightful people.

I am especially grateful to those of you who have attended on a regular basis and supported me and the Power Lunch series year in and year out.

While I have learned a lot during the hundred lunches I facilitated, this milestone is a reminder that it’s time to stretch in new directions and explore new territories. So I am now taking a creative sabbatical away from the Power Lunches, fully intending to return with a new and different approach to sharing information with, and learning from, talented people like you.

I promise to keep you posted on the results of my inspirational break.

Training Myself 4 Success

After five years of monthly evening trainings, I am now updating my own training and public speaking skills. I will be in Germany at the beginning of October, for workshops on improvisation skills, and I am now committing to the newest Toastmasters club here in Prague.

I was one of the founding members of two other Toastmasters clubs in Prague, and have always been a strong advocate of the Toastmasters approach to public speaking, especially for people who are new to it. But Toastmasters can help anyone at any point in their public speaking efforts, and clubs are an excellent way to meet people, expand your network and learn new skills.

For smart people, learning never stops, so I am looking forward to participating with this club, an English-speaking one known as the Good Morning Toastmasters. We’re meeting every Tuesday at 7:15, at Paul patisserie by the I.P. Pavlova tram/metro stop – get there a little early to grab coffee and a croissant. Meetings last only an hour, so you can easily get to work on time.

For information about this Toastmasters club please contact Anezka Novak by email at anezkan @ gmail . com or call her at 777 566 018. More information about Toastmasters in general is available in this article.
