Aloha kakou!
I hope this newsletter finds you and your `ohana doing great. We had a fantastic summer here at Kupu with so much that happened. If you haven't already, I highly encourage you to check out our facebook and website to see some of the exciting things that happened in the lives of the youth and communities Kupu was able to impact. Youth from Kupu served across our state and even across the country to contribute close to 40,000 hours of service or over $707,000 in volunteer hours through their efforts this past summer.
This past August we also had our first corporate sponsored Lau Kupu Day. Johnson Controls International sponsored an amazing day at Kako`o O`iwi where close to a 80 volunteers helped this amazing non-profit to care for this special land in Kaneohe and care for their lo`i kalo. If your company is interested in becoming a Lau Kupu sponsor, please contact Rebecca Beralas at rebecca.beralas@kupuhawaii.org
We hope that September is a blessed month and that those of you returning to school will make the most of the amazing opportunity to learn and grow. Speaking of which, Kupu is proud to now have its own C-Base program through a unique partnership with McKinley Adult School. We are now able to help young adults who have not completed school to get their diploma along with valuable work and life skills that our Community U program offers. So many inspiring stories and young heroes who are defying the odds and making a positive change in their lives and the world around them. We are so proud of each of them and wish them and each of you the very best this fall season!
Aloha,
John
