Dear Friends,
At Capacity Partners, we recently celebrated our tenth anniversary!
The missions and visions we have helped strengthen and promote over the past 10 years run the gamut – from affordable housing for people with mental disabilities, to education to meet the full spectrum of a growing child’s needs; from legal action to bring justice to victims of domestic violence, to art that moves the soul and creates community; from English literacy for adult learners, to women’s leadership in healthcare, to protecting the natural world and promoting green living — and many more avenues of positive social change!
This is why we are here: to serve those who have dedicated their lives to building the fabric of a vibrant, caring community in Greater Washington and throughout the world.
The impact of the government shutdown on many of our nonprofit colleagues and the people they serve has been a powerful reminder of just how essential nonprofits are to our community. So much is at stake when nonprofits don’t have adequate resources and support, and this crisis has only deepened our professional and personal commitment to strengthening the sector.
When I founded Capacity Partners in 2003, I had a series of lofty goals – chiefly, to have an impact on the most pressing problems of our day through partnering with like-minded professionals to offer a full suite of individualized services to nonprofits. We began with fundraising and now offer a full suite of services in strategy and development. Along the way, we’ve learned a lot and become more sophisticated in our conceptual frameworks and hands-on toolkits.
In our next decade our vision and focus will remain the same even as our firm will continue to grow. In the early days Capacity Partners was mostly me. Today, Capacity Partners is a dynamic boutique firm whose success depends upon the contributions of a smart and dedicated team and our expanding network of partner consultants and strategic partner firms.
