Unfortunately it appears schools do not provide third party insurance, and its too expensive for Astrotas to arrange so we have canned the idea to do the gluten free baking at Penguin highschool. Instead Robin Ellenberger will do it as usual at her Skyranch Bakehouse in Travellers Rest near Launceston at a date to suit. She only takes a small group there - usually just 2 people but with Astro you can bring a primary school child along 8-13 yrs to share your fun day. We have one newly diagnosed coeliac member and her little sister who want to go - they need to share petrol in order to attend ( she has a Tarago van) so if you want to go with her, or you know another person who might please email me for contact details so you can sort out a suitable date between yourselves and Robin. Robin has been testing some really neat new things including a pumpernickel premix and a super pastry recipe. Details for whats in the cooking session and a great brownie recipe ( GF) on the astro website.

The weed walk in September with Allan Wilton was as usual really well attended and we hope to see the many new faces who came along again. I haven't managed to upload any photos this time due to camera malfunction but check our website for a wonderful free ebook on weeds from the tasmanian soil and health library. You might also find the little book of common tasmanian plant names useful to download.

Do you like free cake? Are you reliable? There are now some perks to being on the committee, you get to come along to our fun meetings for free so please consider signing on as our treasurer for 2014 when the wonderful Ingrid Schlipper is on a long awaited trip to Europe. No formal book keeping skills required just simple arithmetic as we don't have a lot of bills (yay). You just need to show up to the majority of astrotas meetings to take care of the entry fees and badges, committee meetings twice a year or so, tot up a few receipts and arrange to pay the monthly rent on time. We will supply all training and even a calculator.
