HEY YOU! DO YOU LIKE TO PARTY?

WE hope to see all of you at our annual fundraising party on Wednesday, November 6th at Grand Victory! WE Bike NYC has grown exponentially this year, and WE need your help to keep providing FREE rides and bike maintenance education to women throughout the five boroughs! Your entrance fee will go straight to supporting more fun rides and educational workshops in the future, and plus, THIS PARTY IS GONNA BE A BLAST! In addition to MUSIC, DANCING, and general BIKE-RELATED ENTERTAINMENT, WE will be raffling off TWO BRAND NEW BICYCLES from Adeline Adeline and Brooklyn Cruiser, as well as awesome bags and other bike-related gear and accessories. Sponsors include Red Lantern Bicycles, Bicycle Paintings, Irving Farm Coffee, Planet Bike, Recycle-a-Bicycle, Transportation Alternatives, GiveLoveCycle, Chrome, and MANY MORE! *All cyclists and friends of cyclists and people who think cyclists are neat are welcome! (That means you too, dudes!)*

MUJERES EN MOVIMIENTO UPDATE!

We are SO PROUD of the 16 women in our
Mujeres en Movimiento program WHO JUST LEARNED HOW TO RIDE A BICYCLE THIS PAST MONTH!  With a collaboration with Bike New York, WE were able to provide an unique learning opportunity to these amazing Mujeres! Our Spanish-language earn-a-bike program in Corona, Queens focuses on teaching bicycle maintenance and repair as a marketable skill, and promotes cycling as a healthy mode of transportation in a neighborhood of NYC that is not easily accessible by public transit. Here are some photos from the learn-to-ride event! Want to learn more about Mujeres en Movimiento? Click here!

The two-wheeled life has entered an exciting new chapter in New York. The city, site of the country’s first bike path (built in 1894 along Ocean Parkway), is now veined with some 300 miles of bike lanes throughout all five boroughs. More New Yorkers than ever are commuting by bicycle and the CitiBike program has established cycling as a viable form of public/private transportation. Join us for a series of short presentations- including WE Bike NYC- exploring the recent past of New York City’s bicycling movement, offering an assessment of where the cycling movement has been and where it is headed. Reservations required. $10 for Museum members; $12 for students and senior; $16 general public. http://www.mcny.org/event/bicycle-advocacy-citibike
