~ Letter from the President ~
 Women of IMPACT 100 Owensboro, you have done it again! Invited to join with other women in generous giving with the goal of transforming our community. You have become a source of inspiration, a model for charitable giving, and a beacon of hope.
We were warmly welcomed into the work of all four of our finalists, we experienced first-hand their task and their mission, and we listened to their stories. May I say yet again, thank you! Thank you, women of IMPACT 100 for your presence, your questions, and for taking so seriously this very important task.
On Thursday, October 24, all IMPACT 100 Owensboro members are invited to attend our Annual Meeting where we will hear a summary report of all of our vital work, and where we will vote on those organizations that we believe are best aligned with our mission in order to receive our larger grants.
By now you have received a packet of information, in which is included an absentee ballot for those women who absolutely must miss this crucial meeting. However, may I remind you that this is a last resort for those who are forced to be away on that evening. All others, please plan now to attend.
Whether you have been an IMPACT 100 Owensboro member for years and are accustomed to attending this event, or whether this is your first time actually considering attending, please know: YOU ARE IMPACT 100 OWENSBORO. You are invited. And, might I say, we are expecting you.

~ Past Grant Recipient ~
Boulware Mission has the distinct honor of being a two-time recipient of the IMPACT 100 award – an honor shared only by O.A.S.I.S. The mission first received a grant of $104,000 in 2007 to reconstruct and renovate the kitchen and dining areas. In 2011, a second grant for $103,500 was awarded to renovate rooms upstairs, creating two new living spaces for men and an additional bathroom. We were able to complete the most recent project under budget and the money was able to go even further, renovating three more rooms on the main floor that are now being used as a GED classroom, case manager’s office, and men’s TV lounge. These improvements would not have been possible without the help of IMPACT 100 – YOUR help!
The kitchen was and still is an integral part of daily operations for the mission. Clients take turns cooking for the house and in doing so learn valuable skills. One of the mission’s current residents, Terry, is a former chef. Terry said that the Mission’s kitchen is one of the better kitchens he’s worked in – and he has worked in kitchens all over the world. “A cooker’s paradise” he called it. “The set-up was done so well – you can prep and turn right around and cook without having to move!” Terry uses the kitchen to mentor other clients and to teach them how to cook nutritious, delicious meals.
The residents were so excited for the renovations upstairs to be complete! There was a little competition over who would get to move. Case managers chose to move the more senior clients, who were really working hard on their case plans. Everyone was affected though, because the additional room upstairs created more room downstairs as well. “The extra added space upstairs was greatly needed,” said Kenny, an upstairs resident. “We were so cramped in our former quarters. It’s also nice to have an extra bathroom.” The additional benefits have been so positive for the mission! The chapel has been restored to a place for fellowship and is used regularly by staff, clients, and visitors. One of our other clients, Dale, has been able to not only earn his GED while residing at Boulware; but, he is now a full time college student. He is “very thankful for the opportunity to start over” and feels that he wouldn’t be where he is today and his achievements would not be possible without your help!
