Ingredients & Supplies:
10, 1 oz tins (yields 10 gifts)
1 C sweet almond oil or sunflower seed oil
1 oz white beeswax from local craft store
10 peppermint hard candies
double boiler
1 non-metal stir stick/popsicle stick/chopstick
Directions:
Start by filling bottom level of double boiler with 1/3 water and place on medium heat. Make sure that the upper pot is completely dry and add oil and hard candies. Allow oil to get hot (not boil) for about 15 minutes. Caution: do not allow water to get into oil mixture. Stir occasionally.
Once candies have melted, add beeswax and stir until completely dissolve to reveal clear liquid. Once melted, remove from heat and allow to cool for a couple minutes. Carefully pour hot oil mixture evenly into each tin, and allow the balms to completely cool before covering.
Decorate your tin as desired to share as gifts. Keep away from sun and heat. |
