What a great Homecoming weekend at UW-Stevens Point! The Pointers football team defeated UW-River Falls 47-14 and Karen Bogenschneider, Ph.D., Class of 1972, was honored with the 2013 Distinguished Alumnus of the UWSP College of Professional Studies. Karen is a Rothermel Bascom Professor of Human Ecology at UW-Madison and a family policy specialist at UW-Extension. Read More

Egner to lead latest Title IX Access to Opportunity lecture
As a part of UW-Stevens Point's year-long "Access to Opportunity" lecture series, women's basketball head coach Shirley Egner will present "Personal Reflections on Title IX and Women's Collegiate Basketball," on Oct. 8. The series marks UW-Stevens Point's hosting of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Final Four in March 2014, and centers on the "Access to Opportunity" that Title IX gave to young women playing scholastic sports. Wisconsin ranks third in the nation for potato production and includes more than 35,000 jobs in the state. One of the oldest potato growers in the area shared its story with students in the UW-Stevens Point School of Business & Economics on Sept. 26. “Exploring Careers in Agri-Business” featured a panel from Bushmans’, Inc. that included Jerry Bushman (founder), Mike Carter (CEO) and John Hopfensperger ’98 (sales). CCIT open for collaboration

Local vet earns the Distinguished Flying Cross
After 43 years, a local Vietnam vet was presented with the Distinguished Flying Cross for service as a Huey pilot in 1970 at a ceremony hosted by the UW-Stevens Point ROTC program on Sept. 26. Brigadier General John E. McCoy of the Wisconsin Air National Guard presented Warrant Officer One Steven C. Ellis with the Distinguished Flying Cross in front of family and UWSP cadets. Read More
