November starts off with Nina Amaya off to the Pittsburgh Bellydance Festival to teach a workshop on “How to Dance to Live Music”. The opportunities for a gestalt experience for yourself and your audience is worth the uncertainty you might feel performing with music that is happening NOW, not recorded in a never-changing Then. Nina covers communication with the musicians, before and during your set, etiquette, and how to get the best out of your own dance style. At this workshop, she will be teaching with the bellyrock band, Ishtar, so a live experience is possible right then and there.
Nina and Ishtar are taking this workshop to Florida in January, and to the Art of the Belly Festival in Ocean City, MD, in March. In June, Nina will teach with Anka Kusu in New Jersey. If you would like a Live Music and Dance workshop in your area, contact Nina!

Calendar of Events:
November 2: Pittsburgh Bellydance Festival!, P’Burgh, PA - Nina teaching “How to Dance to Live Music” with Ishtar. Alizarin will be competing, and there are lots of great workshops!
November 10 & 11: FaerieCon East with the Aubergine faeries, Brinjal, and Auberjuniors! Shows Saturday and Sunday at 2, and a children’s dance class with Nina Amaya at 10:30am Sunday.
November 10th: 6-8pm, Live belly dance music with the Brinjal Band. More info below!
Novmeber 11: 7-8:30pm, Daveed teaches Middle Eastern drumming.
November 15: A special night at the Kitchen of India- Brinjal plays here, an open dance set AND a set for Nina's dancing! No cover charge, but a $10 minimum on food.
December 1: Kids Raq at the Kitchen of India - children’s dance show!
December 12: "12 Days of Christmas!" at The Hippo - Aubergine always does something awesome at this very interesting variety show!
December 31: "New Years Eve at Noon" at Port Discovery, Baltimore, MD - face painting, dancing, mask making, and the ball drops at noon!

Thursday mornings: Tea and Dance Class at Studio Nina Amaya $7 drop in, $20 for 4 classes prepaid.
Drumming classes with Daveed Korup! Stay tuned and check the calendar for upcoming classes.
Children’s classes: Nina teaches children’s classes to a large group of children in her home studio. We may have an opening in January. She also teaches children’s workshops and at birthday parties, etc. Catch her kids’ classes at Art of the Belly in March, and at Darbukastan in June. Both include a children’s performance at the show!

Ready to get your LIVE MUSIC dance on in Baltimore? On November 10th Joe Squared offers an informal setting for Brinjal Band, Baltimore’s new belly dance band! Open dance AND no cover, so just come dance from 6-8pm! If you have an instrument, bring it and sit in with us in the second hour.
