Rotary Clubs of Kent Town & St Peters Joint Meeting

Rotarians and friends of Kent Town and St Peters are invited to attend a night tour of the Adelaide Zoo followed by joint Club dinner in the Wisteria Cafe. 

WHEN Tuesday 5 November 2013
TIME 6:45PM for 7:00PM start, followed by dinner at 8:00PM
WHERE  Zoo main entrance on between Frome Road and Botanical Drive
COST $35.00 includes three course dinner or $32.00 without the Zoo tour

Meet at the Zoo main entrance on between Frome Road and Botanical Drive at 6.45pm for a 7.00pm start for a one hour tour and enter the Café at 8.00pm for a 3 course meal.

Kent Town Rotary 'Asylum Speakers' already booked to visit Clubs

The Asylum Speakers Project of the Rotary Club of Kent Town is dedicated to informing other Rotarians about the current situation of asylum seekers and refugees living in Adelaide and surrounding areas. Through a series of educational training sessions, Rotarians of the Kent Town Club will become ”Asylum Speakers”. As such, they will be equipped with the knowledge and understanding to present accurate and concise information to other Rotary Clubs, Rotaract and Rotary affiliated associations in Districts 9520 and 9500. Read more about the project by downloading Information Sheet

Our "Asylum Speakers” will be available to present to clubs from December 2013. To make a booking, please contact Nelson Sanz-Cadena – Kent Town Rotarian & Rotary Peace Fellow 2010-2012 at nelsonsanzcadena@gmail.com and if you are interested in becoming an “Asylum Speaker” please send your expression of interest to Nelson by 22 October 2013.

Hutt Street Centre Angels for a Day

After raising over $4000 jointly with the Rotary Club of St Peters at our Hutt Street Centre Ha! Ha! Comedy Night in May, our clubs have been given a total of eleven Angel for a Day spots to assist the Hutt Street Centre volunteers and clients serve breakfast and lunch under the direction of the fabulous head cook Brenda.

POSTPONED: A FASHION SHOW OF PRELOVED CLOTHING

Due to unforeseen circumstances the Rotary Club of St Peters' Fashion Parade scheduled for this Saturday 26 October has been postponed. The Club looks forward to hosting the event in April/May next year. Stay tuned for details.
ROTARY CLUB OF KENT TOWN'S SISTER CLUB IN WESTERN INDIA
 
Rotary Club of Kent Town is pleased to announce our new partnership with sister club the Rotary Club Aurangabad West in Maharashtra state of Western India.

Founded in 2008, after the first District 3132 Assembly at Aurangabad, all the Past Rotaractors’ came together to sow the seed of opening a new Rotary Club. The Club's projects include running Blood Donation Camps, supporting Shelterbox, and sponsoring six Interact Clubs and the Rotaract Club of Aurangabad West. The Club has formed a remarkable number of partnerships with sister clubs all over the world including Sri Lanka, Tanzania, USA, Jamaica, Costa Rica and many more.

HAT DAY FOR MENTAL HEALTH RESEARCH

Every year more than four million Australians are diagnosed with a mood disorder. 
  • By 2020 depression alone will become the second leading cause of death worldwide. 
  • HAT DAY is Australian Rotary Health’s response to the increasing need to destigmatise mental illness and raise much needed funds for vital research into this area
Rotary members and friends are invited to take a Voyage of Discovery for mental health on a twilight cocktail cruise along the River Torrens on a mini squadron of Popeye launches, complete with on board entertainment and refreshments.

The Rotary Club of Morialta invite you to have breakfast in the park for ShelterBox Australia, who are currently deploying to millions of Syrian families are caught up in what the UNHCR has called "the biggest refugee crisis of this century".
