Odd, but true: your website is not about you (or even about your business). Particularly if you're selling something.

What do you see when you read the text on your home page, and throughout your site? Is it a lot of, "I," "my," "we," and "our?" If so, stop right there! It's time to give your website a big push so it stops being about you and starts being about your customer/client/reader/visitor.

Visitors to your site want to know how the website and what you offer on it will serve them. They want to know how it will solve a problem of theirs. They want to know why they should find it interesting.

Try an experiment. Take the text on any page on your website, and try to write it again to be about the main character in your customer's story: herself.

Feeling a bit full of yourself after re-reading your website? You're not alone. It's tricky to figure out how best to present what you do.
