Issue 5 | Winter 2014

Welcome to the first newsletter of 2014, and a special welcome to all our new subscribers. We celebrated Christmas in the candlelit environment of St Ambrose Church, as well as the art deco Regent Centre. Now the choir are looking forward to spring, and performances in venues familiar and unknown - beginning, in March, with a visit to Salisbury. Read on to find out moreâ€¦

La Nova Singers have made many trips to Stourhead Gardens for their annual Festival of the Voice, but in 2013 the weather was a little damper than usual! Salisbury Lunchtime Concert

On Friday 28 March, La Nova Singers will bring their 'bel canto' sound to Sarum College's Butterfield Chapel, as part of the lunchtime concert series. If you have friends in the Salisbury area, please do recommend us! We will be singing light classical music and operetta. Tickets are Â£8 including a buffet lunch, and more details are available on the Sarum College website.

Sing for Victory!

This year marks the centenary of the start of the First World War. Our summer concert will feature classical music that was known at the time, as well as popular songs of the day - and we're looking for your ideas! If you know a piece of music that would fit our 1914 theme, get in touch by e-mailing newsletter@lanovasingers.co.uk. The concert will be in aid of Help for Heroes and tickets will include a cream tea.

'A Sparkling Evening' Reviewed

The singers' performance at The Regent Centre in December 2013 has received two reviews, in Stour & Avon magazine ('beautiful singingâ€¦ they are a pleasure to hear') and Scene One magazine ('certainly one of the best â€“ if not THE best â€“ choral groups around'). We have been very pleased with the audience reception and hope to do more events like this in the future!
