TELLUS BORDER PROJECT
Tellus Border is an EU INTERREG IVA-funded regional mapping project collecting geo-environmental data on soils, water and rocks across six border counties - Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Cavan, Monaghan and Louth - and continuing the analysis of existing data in Northern Ireland. The project is a cross-border initiative between the Geological Survey of Northern Ireland, the Geological Survey of Ireland, Queen’s University Belfast and Dundalk Institute of Technology.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE EU-METALIC II SCHOLARSHIP PROJECT
The EU-Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Algerian, Libya in International Cooperation (EU-METALIC II) Programme offers scholarships for undergraduate, master, doctoral and post-doctoral students and staff. These scholarships are financed with the support of the Erasmus Mundus programme of the European Union and will cover travel, insurance, participation costs and subsistence allowance.
The call is open from Tuesday 21st October 2013 and the deadline is Friday 17th January 2014
EUROPEAN MATTERS
EUROPEAN REGIONS ENCOURAGED TO OFFER SMEs VOUCHERS OF UP TO €10,000 TO GO DIGITAL
The European Commission is piloting a scheme whereby Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) can benefit from a grant worth up to €10,000 in order to increase their digital capacity. The funding will be made available through "innovation vouchers" to ensure funding allocated to SMEs to enhance their e-commerce and ICT capacities is spent quickly and in full. The vouchers worth up to €10,000 will be made available for purchasing and learning to make use of digital (ICT) services.
NEW EU LAW ALLOWS FOR CROSS-BORDER HEALTHCARE
European citizens will be able to avail of healthcare in another EU country under a new EU law on patients' rights and healthcare which entered into force on Friday 25 October 2013.
PEACEBUILDING
BORDER ROADS TO MEMORIES & RECONCILIATION
The Border Roads to Memories & Reconciliation Project sets out to provide an opportunity and space for residents along both sides of the border to remember and express their feelings in relation to the closure of border roads and the impact that it had on their lives.
The intention is to digitally record the feelings of segregation and marginalization that this sector of the population experienced, and link these accounts with recovered photographs and newly recorded audio visual, and make them available on a new interactive website.

This cross border shared learning event will explore women’s experiences of Peace and how the legacies of the past unite and divide us as women. At the event we will hear from international speaker, Nora Marud, from the Dalia Foundation based in Palestine about her experience of working across divided communities, and from Rev. Dr. Lesley Carroll. Lesley has worked in North Belfast since 1988 within the areas of peacemaking, social justice and building resilience. Lesley works with community groups, politicians and representatives of civil society towards creating a more peaceful, reconciled and equal society in which all voices are heard.

IRELAND AS A PLACE OF SANCTUARY
To coincide with World Human Rights Day, a number of speakers will provide some thought provoking discussion on the whole concept of sanctuary
Tuesday 10th December commencing at 9.30am and ending with lunch at 1pm.
The event is being organised by the Junction, Donegal Community Workers Co-op, North West Community Network and Community Dialogue and will be held at St Augustine’s Church Hall, Derry/Londonderry, the reputed site of the original monastery of St. Columba and which is regarded as the first ever monastery that provided sanctuary in Ireland.
‘AFTERMATH’ EXHIBITION
A major new exhibition called ‘Aftermath’ is set to tour a number of galleries in Ireland over the next few months setting out to explore the aftermath of conflict and trauma from the troubles of Northern Ireland and conflict situations worldwide.
It will be shown in Dublin, Newry and Belfast until the end of the 2013.
