Pumpkins, Pipes and Poltergeists!

Join Eastman organists at Christ Church at 8pm on Halloween night for an hour-long concert of spooky music on the Craighead-Saunders and Hook & Hastings Organs. Come in costume and stay for tricks and treats afterwards. This event is free and open to the public and is one of our chapter-sponsored events.

Pedals, Pipes, and Pizza

As many of you know, our chapter hosted a very successful Pipe Organ Encounter Advanced (POEA) this past summer for 27 talented high school organists from around the country.  Seeing the excitement that these youngsters had for the organ inspired us to offer more outreach programs for youth.  On Saturday, November 16 from 10:30-Noon at Christ Church, the Rochester Chapter will host a Pedals, Pipes, and Pizza event for youth aged 11-14.  This is designed as a short introduction to the pipe organ, including a demonstration as well as an opportunity to look inside and try out the instruments.  Lunch will be provided.  This event is free and open to the public, but we ask that you RSVP to Bruce Frank (585-241-3078, bfrank345@gmail.com) so that we can order enough food.  Please share this announcement with your children’s choirs and/or piano students.   We could also use some AGO members to assist with the event.  Email Annie Laver if you are interested: alaver@esm.rochester.edu.

FREE CHORAL SCORES!

In preparation for a move across the street to the Rundel Memorial Building, the Arts, Music & Recreation division of the Rochester Public Library is de-accessioning their collection of choral music. Multiple copies of anthems are available free of charge to religious institutions and community groups that might be able to use them.
