How to Keep Going as a Writer? Consult the Writer’s Notebook

The featured work in the Writer's Notebook is vigorous, honest, and serious about making it as a writer. Read about the late great fiction writer Elmore Leonard and Ru Freeman's wisdom about writing retreats. Watch for more posts each month and throughout the year.

VOTE NOW & Help AWP Become a Stronger Association

Please vote now and help AWP become a stronger, more modern, and more resourceful association. AWP must hold another election on governance reform since we were unable to achieve a quorum this past academic year. Last winter, AWP Members supported governance reform by a big margin. 1,245 members voted for governance reform and 43 against. Unfortunately, too few members voted, and we failed to achieve a quorum. Our bylaws and articles of incorporation have many components that date back to 1967, and we have to adopt a new structure to improve our service to a growing and more diverse membership.
