Welcome to Martha Kisling's Creative Watercolor!

I love this time of year when the days are cooler, the leaves turn beautiful fall colors and the urge to bake pumpkin bread is strong. We have focused on painting fall foliage in my weekly classes and will be using real leaves for stamping on our paintings this next week. Has autumn inspired your artistic projects?

Be sure to check out my blog to see past postings and more of my art and you can also subscribe to this newsletter if you haven't already. Check out past newsletters here.

All three of our kids started playing soccer when they were four and we have loved every minute of watching their games. Our son Scott is almost finished with his final season of soccer at the University of Vermont where he is now in his senior year. Soccer has provided Scott with years of fun, hard work, discipline, drive, competition, team work, sportsmanship, leadership, a college scholarship and now as he readies himself for graduation it has already offered him great connections for job hunting as he enters the world of business - what a WONDERFUL game it has been for him!!!

Invited Back To Breckenridge     Watercolor Collage WorkshNew DPW AuctionOil Pastels and Watercolor

Oil pastels are wonderful to use with watercolor because they resist the paint, allowing for bright colors to show through dark washes. For my painting of koi I first used white pastel to draw swirly shapes in the water and then painted various shades of blue over them - are they rocks or bubbles? You decide.

Martha's Art Table

Here is a photo of my art table/work space - a door on top of a small pool table that my Dad set up for me to use in his workshop when I was thirteen. It went off to college with me where I used it as a drafting table for my Architecture classes, to Denver for my first job, to South Carolina with my husband and kids and now back to Colorado where I am still using it for art projects and watercolor painting - over 40 years of fun and creativity!

Nancy - Private Lesson!

I spent a wonderful day painting with Nancy who drove three hours from her home in southern Colorado for a Private Watercolor Lesson. We focused on painting landscapes and covered most elements including trees, water, mountains, rocks, snow, grass and foliage while practicing techniques in wet on wet, dry brush and blending. Nancy is a wonderful painter with a good eye for composition and a natural touch with the brush - it was a pleasure to paint with her! You can find more info about my Private Lessons on my website
