Chapter 22 - Emotions

A More In-Depth Look at Discipline: The Art of Achieving Greatness

 

I believe that one of the biggest parts of discipline that each of us has to face at some point is fighting through our emotions. It is giving up something that we want for short-term gratification because we can see the good that can come from doing something more beneficial in the future. It is going to bed early even when you want to stay up late. You do this in order to wake up earlier and get a better start to your day instead of dragging through your day, just to barely make it. It is eating healthier and exercising in order to live a healthier life. Finding time for your top priorities is the right thing to do, even when your emotions tell you that you want to be doing something else.
 
Selfish emotions will derail you in life when your focus isn't where it should be.
 
Emotions are the indicator of where your thoughts have been. Be aware of what you are focusing on mentally and choose good thoughts. Today, fill yourself with goodness and give good away.
