Dear Colleagues
There are 35 sleeps to Christmas! This is a perfect time to remind you about the benefits of a good sleep and update you about our new and improved sleep service.
Research suggests that sleep plays an important role in memory, both before and after learning a new task. Lack of sleep can cause problems with mood, judgement and ability to deal with stress. It can also affect reaction times and ability to assess speed and distance. A less known fact is that lack of sleep can cause weight gain. This is because production of the hormones leptin and ghrelin which are associated with appetite may be influenced by how much or how little we sleep.
To make sure you have a good sleep you need to check that you have a roster that promotes sleep and manage sleeping disorders. To make this simpler we have teamed up with Dr Alex Bartle and the Sleep Well Clinic to provide a clinical service throughout New Zealand. Home assessments and treatments are available for a wide range of sleeping disorders including sleep apnoea, insomnia and sleep wake cycles. We can also assess your roster to find out if it allows time for adequate sleep.
