Featured offering: INTAPT
INTAPT stands for Interprofessional Applied Practical Teaching and Learning in the Health Professions. It is a long-standing and popular course in the Department that is designed to provide participants with a broad introductory overview of clinical education, teaching and learning issues in health professional training as a field of scholarly inquiry and research.
There are two parts to the course: part 1 is from Monday, October 28 to Friday, November 1, 2013; part 2 is from Monday, March 3 to Friday March 7, 2014.
There is still time to register for this year’s offering.

The topic “Issues in Implementation Science,” presented by Dr. Jeremy Grimshaw, Director, Cochrane Canada and Senior Scientist, Clinical Epidemiology Program, Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, will explore the field of Implementation Science, highlight key areas of implementation science and discuss key challenges facing the field.

Call for submissions to U of T’s medical student run publication UTMJ: The University of Toronto Medical Journal (UTMJ), Canada's oldest student-run scientific publication, is seeking submissions from faculty members and residents for its Fall edition, on the topic of obesity. Awards, Appointments and Honours
Through its programs, units and faculty members, the Department offers rounds, seminars, workshops, faculty and professional development, continuing education, continuing medical education and graduate studies programs. We cannot list all our offering each issue, so be sure to open your News Digest each time it arrives!
Congratulations to Dr. Philip Berger, St. Michael’s Hospital, who has been made a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. The Academy is one of Canada's most esteemed academic academies. Fellows are recognized for their leadership, creativity and commitment to advancing academic health science and are drawn from a wide range of health professions -- recognizing work from basic science to population health. Election to fellowship in the Academy is considered one of the highest honours in the Canadian health sciences community.
Dr. Brian Goldman, Mount Sinai Hospital, has been awarded a CMA Media award for Excellence in Health Reporting – Radio, Canadian Medical Association.
Dr. Mark Nowaczynski, home care physician and Clinical Director of House Calls, was recently recognized by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists with a citation award for his collaborative work in providing interprofessional home-based primary care to frail seniors.
