On Tuesday  22nd October, a team of Rae-Line employees attended the Premier’s Sustainability Awards. Rae-Line was recently announced as a Finalist in the Small to Medium Enterprise category and we travelled down to the Docklands hoping we could take the next step and win the award. Despite some tough competition, Rae-Line was announced as the winner of the 2013 Premiers Sustainability Award in our category and are very proud to receive such recognition with regards our efforts to reduce our impact on the environment.
 

In late 2012, Rae-Line installed a 125KW solar electricity system that will supply close to our total electricity requirements from 2013 and beyond. The decision to do so was seen as both a good business decision in that we will reduce our manufacturing costs and therefore improve our competitiveness in the market, but just as importantly, an environmentally sound decision in that we will reduce carbon footprint. Along with this major improvement, the team at Rae-Line had made other changes to reduce our landfill waste through the recycling of our scrap cardboard and paper.
 

As Managing Director I would like to acknowledge the efforts of Anthony Reagan and the Environmental and Sustainability Committee in putting our award entry together. Anthony did much of the work in his own time and his ongoing passion for the environment will ensure that Rae-Line continues to implement further initiatives in the future that will ensure that we continue to reduce our impact on the environment.
