Clean Energy,
Not Cove Point!
Maryland Crossroads Tour
Comes to Columbia
Clean Energy, Not Cove Point! — the most important local climate action event of the year — is coming to Columbia on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the East Columbia library. An environmental threat this huge requires an unprecedented response. That's why Chesapeake Climate Action Network has been on a nine-stop statewide tour this month to sound the alarm. The tour's final stop is Columbia. We need each of you to attend and make this the most rousing stop of the tour. At a proposed facility at Cove Point in Calvert County, Dominion Resources wants to liquefy and export fracked gas to Japan and India. This scheme would accelerate fracking across the Marcellus Shale and lead to additional community-disrupting pipelines and compressor stations. And it would be a major climate polluter in our state. At the Crossroads event, learn what you can do to stop this pollution disaster and demand more solar and wind power. Mike Tidwell has a compelling multimedia presentation. Read his op-ed here. Delegate Liz Bobo will also be receiving a climate hero award. Tour details here and register here. Doors open at 7 p.m.. Listen to WAMU program about Cove Point and vote.
