Support BirthWell Partners
Too many babies in our community are born too soon, too small and too sick. We know that the support of a doula before, during, and after the birth of a baby can directly improve these poor health outcomes! Researchers have seen it, other community doula programs have seen it, and we are seeing it. Compared to pregnant women receiving Medicaid in Jefferson County who do not have doula support, our clients' babies have a higher average gestational age, higher average birth weight, and are far more likely to receive breast milk as a first food.
But we need funding to continue our work!
Your donations enable us to award scholarships and train community doulas, who in turn provide services to low-income pregnant women and teens. Over the past 2.5 years we've been working diligently to increase the number of community doulas in Birmingham. We are so proud of our volunteer doulas who have given caring, one-on-one support to many, many women during pregnancy and birth. Recently we've expanded our services to offer free childbirth classes for women and teens in Birmingham, and are providing doula services in Anniston, but we cannot continue to sustain and grow our services without your help. Please make a donation today!

Meet our Newest Doulas!
In October we hosted our fifth comprehensive doula training, attended by 17 women from Alabama and Tennessee. We want to thank Brookwood Women's Medical Center for once again letting us hold part of our training at the hospital and their Gold's Gym facility. Our next training will be held in April 2014.
