And it's getting bigger every year. Chegg raised over $200M prior to its IPO this week, while Tableau Software raised just $15M. Which is more typical? Using CB Insights VC data, we found that total funding needed prior to an IPO is on the rise while amounts raised prior to an M&A exit are decreasing.
